Fran Manen told us that there was always someone asking why at Lord Drake Kustoms they only worked on Sportster, Scrambler models… Well, the answer is this: “If a Sportster needs to be done, we do a Sportster, but if it’s a BMW… what better way to start than with one like this?”
This motorcycle model has been one of the most used lately in customization and transformation projects, and despite the years, these classic BMW Rs have not lost their charm. They continue to capture public interest and offer many opportunities for showcasing craftsmanship when done with good taste.

Specifically, Fran told us: “this bike was sent to us by a client practically in boxes; it was missing many parts and was in a condition unsuitable for use or scrap”.
The transformation was carried out in our workshop in Málaga. The first thing we had to do upon its arrival was finish disassembling it. Then we started stripping, sandblasting, and powder-coating all the parts that could still be used, such as the frame, wheels, engine, etc.

The client wanted something elegant, with a predominance of black. But Fran didn’t feel like making the classic, typical Cafe Racer; he wanted something more like a scrambler or brat. He admits that it didn’t take long to decide to create a very old-school scrambler, a bike that, in addition to the scrambler size, had elements of those old BMWs from the past. Although it might be a mix of bobber and scrambler, everything is very vintage… and here is the result.

Glossy black, matte black, and textured black were combined to give the bike a sober and elegant look. We also added a solo seat and custom fenders, providing the old-school and vintage touch they were looking for.

All the handlebar controls are new and come with a street-style handlebar, although the original headlight and the fork (slightly modified) have been retained to respect the spirit of this BMW R100.
