Its owner, who lives just a few kilometers from the Cheste circuit (Spain), decided a few months ago that it was time to revamp this magnificent motorcycle and turn it into a more comfortable, modern, and relaxed style. That’s how one day he decided to call Lord Drake Kustoms, where Fran Manen (owner of LDK) attended him, and they exchanged ideas about what the new Ducati 999 could be like. After the phone conversation, the project was finalized and ready to begin.

In an era where it seems that only some old motorcycle models can be transformed, and where many people seem obsessed with finding some 40-year-old scrap to spend a disproportionate amount of money on (given their type and condition), what better project than transforming a bike completely opposite to fashion trends…? A relatively modern motorcycle, and one that’s entirely a racing machine! None other than a Ducati 999.

The owner of Lord Drake Kustoms told us: “For me, it was a very beautiful project because I love Ducatis, and this was the first time I worked on one that wasn’t a Monster model.”

I must admit that at first the idea overwhelmed me a bit, because the 999, unlike the Monster, comes loaded with parts and elements hidden behind the fairing… which would be one of the main challenges: making the bike aesthetically clean, beautiful, and functional once the fairings were removed. Then, if we wanted to make a difference, we knew the wheels had to be different, and in this case, nothing better than spoked wheels to give it a more classic touch.

They have also modified the entire subframe and incorporated the rear indicators into it. Additionally, part of the exhaust collector has been fabricated in stainless steel to convert it into a 2:1 system and fit a Supertrapp. All the handlebar controls have been modified, as has the front suspension. The rear brake caliper had to be repositioned to work with the new spoked wheels. The front fender and the battery side cover have been handmade, along with many other modifications.

Finally, the entire motorcycle has been painted. The frame changed from gray to red, the engine from gray to black, and the fuel tank was painted a simple white with slightly more classic Ducati graphics, giving it a more elegant touch and resulting in a magnificent Ducati 999 “Neoracer.”
