There are custom bikes that are simply modified, and then there are those that look like they come from another world. “The Technician,” the latest creation from the Swiss team at Bündnerbike, falls squarely into the latter category.
Built upon the powerful Harley-Davidson Breakout 117 platform, this machine is the result of approximately one year of development. It stands as a prime example of a custom Harley-Davidson Breakout that prioritizes “custom bike perfection” over simple bolt-on parts.
The Single-Sided Revolution
The engineering highlight of this custom Breakout is undoubtedly the rear end. Bündnerbike has developed a proprietary single-sided swingarm (Einarmschwinge) specifically for this model.
Described as a “masterpiece of craftsmanship,” this swingarm is constructed from just two parts, offering exceptionally high torsional stiffness. The genius of the design lies in its “Driveside” configuration: both the brake and the drive pulley are located on the left side. This technical feat leaves the right side of the rear wheel completely exposed, allowing for an unobstructed view of the massive rim on this custom bike.

3D Sheet Metal Art
Bündnerbike didn’t just swap parts; they reshaped the metal itself. The workshop utilized extensive “3D sheet metal work” to give the bike a unique texture and depth that sets it apart from a standard Harley-Davidson Breakout.
- The Tank: The fuel tank features complex 3D patterns processed directly into the steel, creating a structure that catches the light differently than a standard smooth surface.
- The Rear: The rear fender follows the same 3D philosophy. It features integrated air slots and seamlessly houses the LED lighting and the saddle, creating a unified, flowing line.

A Study in Blue and Gold
The visual impact of “The Technician” comes from its color palette. The entire custom Harley-Davidson Breakout is finished in a breathtaking Matte Blue, a choice that gives the machine a modern, almost industrial aesthetic.
To break up the matte finish, Bündnerbike applied Gloss Black and Gold accents. The gold is particularly striking on the 3D milled rims (a massive 21-inch wheel up front and an 18-inch wheel at the rear). These rims are milled from a single solid piece, further emphasizing the “Technician” theme of high-end machining.
Performance and Sound
While it looks like a sculpture, this Breakout is built to ride legally on Swiss roads.
- Suspension: The bike sits on a Bündnerbike Air Ride Suspension kit. This pneumatic system allows the rider to continuously adjust the vehicle’s height and suspension characteristics, blending low-slung style with rideability.
- Exhaust: The soundtrack is provided by a Kess Tech system. It features electronic sound control, meaning the exhaust note can be adjusted while remaining fully street-legal.

A Class of Its Own
From the proprietary triple tree and handlebars to the intricate LED integration, “The Technician” is a showcase of what Bündnerbike can do. It combines the raw muscle of the 117ci engine with the finesse of Swiss engineering, resulting in a custom Harley-Davidson Breakout that leaves observers, in the builder’s own words, “speechless.”
