Yamaha XT motorcycles were very popular in their time. They were manufactured between 1984 and 2003, designed for both road and off-road use. Lately, they have started to be widely used as a base for customization. Such is the case of this Scrambler recently built by Lord Drake Kustoms.

In this case, the motorcycle was in a deplorable condition, but the client knew exactly what he wanted. His dream was to bring it back to life by turning it into a Scrambler with knobby tires, predominantly black, except for the fuel tank. The fork would be inverted and had to be silver.

Fran Manen and his team at Lord Drake Kustoms quickly got to work. The first thing they did was completely disassemble the Yamaha XT. Once ready, they began the hardest task: adapting the frame to fit the fuel tank. This type of model has a tank with an oil cap on the top frame bar, which makes proper modification challenging.

Once this problem was overcome, they began adapting the inverted fork, to which they installed a 19” wheel. As for the front suspension, they fitted a longer shock with an air reservoir instead of the standard one.

Then came a series of handmade details, such as the air filter box, the indicators on the grips, the front fender, and the seat itself. But what stands out the most is the BMX-style handlebar with the 5.75-inch yellow lens headlight.
Finally, and just as the client wanted, they sent the parts to be painted in glossy or textured black. The exception was the fuel tank, which was chosen in a military green color.

Then, the moment to fire it up arrived, and there’s no better way than for you to listen to its sound.
All that was left was to test it outside. And that’s exactly what Fran Manen did in a field near his workshop, a moment we can enjoy in this video.
Nowadays, this Yamaha XT Scrambler can be seen on the streets of Algeciras (Spain) and its surroundings.
